Each year, Recovery Month is associated with a unique theme designed to be both relevant and timely. This year’s theme is “Join the Voices for Recovery: Our Families, Our Story, Our Recovery!” Families often find it difficult to deal with the complex dynamic of supporting a loved one in recovery while also making time for self-care.
In 2016, National Recovery Month is designed to shine a spotlight on these families, communities, care providers and individuals who have dealt with addiction in order to develop a more personal connection to the cause with those outside the recovery community.
By making addiction more personal, Recovery Month can highlight the need for improved availability of addiction and mental health treatment services, as well as continued education and prevention.
National Recovery Month is sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
