Silvermist offers an on-site partial hospitalization program, or PHP. PHPs offer a moderate level of structure that allows those in recovery to build confidence in their sobriety while they continue to learn how to cope with life’s challenges without using.
Participants in our PHP usually take up residence in our property’s rustic log cabin, which features a stunning loft, bright kitchen, and comfortably appointed bedrooms. The log cabin is steps away from Silvermist’s main residence.
Clients in our PHP program meet with their therapists for a minimum of two 30-minute sessions per week. These sessions take place as part of a structured daily schedule.
Clients in Silvermist’s PHP program also have additional freedoms not afforded to those in our residential program, including less group time and self-directed study time. These freedoms allow clients to begin to use the sober skills they have learned in treatment as they prepare for discharge from the program and a return home. We strongly emphasize aftercare in this program, with a focus on increasing the chances of success for our clients following their reintegration into their home communities.
We allow clients to meet with their sponsors or family members, either on- or off-campus, with the approval of their primary therapist. The length of the visit is also determined by the therapist. Clients should use these opportunities to begin to rebuild a supportive network outside of treatment.
A typical day in the PHP begins with morning community meeting and a guided meditation. Then, clients have a small therapeutic group, or process group, with a therapist and other members of the Silvermist community.
Following the process group, PHP clients attend a 30-45 minute life skills group. The life skills groups may focus on a variety of topics including:
- Meal planning
- Resume writing
- Job searching
- Time management skills
- Creating chore lists
- Making a schedule inclusive of recovery plans for when a client leaves Silvermist
- Aftercare planning and relapse prevention
The afternoon consists of recreation time and personal time. Recreation activities may include going the to gym, playing games, watching a movie in the on-site movie theater, crafts, and swimming or hiking when the weather permits. We also hold volleyball, softball and other outdoor games. Clients are strongly encouraged to participate in physical activities during recreation.
Dinner is served at the main residence for clients in the PHP program. After dinner, they participate in study time, 12-step meetings (typically a community-based meeting, but Silvermist staff do hold in-house meetings once a week) and, evening community/gratitude meeting before lights out at midnight.
We accept private insurance and self-pay clients at these levels of care. Transportation to and from meetings is provided. Snacks and meals are provided. Linens are provided.
